ABOUT US
Girls Lead Change (GLC) is a global, healing-centered leadership initiative empowering Black girls ages 12–18 across the diaspora to lead with confidence, purpose, and impact.
Despite progress in youth development and girls’ empowerment worldwide, Black girls continue to face intersecting barriers, racialized gender bias, limited access to mentors, silencing, and underrepresentation in spaces that shape opportunity. These challenges restrict leadership development, civic participation, and economic mobility.
GLC exists to change this reality.
We provide identity-affirming, culturally grounded leadership development that combines structured programming, year-round mentorship, global networks, and community-based action. Through our signature 6–6–12 Journey, strong safeguarding systems, and trusted local partnerships, we equip girls with the confidence, competence, and capacity to lead transformational change.
Rooted in healing, voice, sisterhood, and service, GLC is building a global ecosystem where Black girls are visible, valued, and thriving across civic, entrepreneurial, social, and technology spaces.
Today, with the support of philanthropic partners and community allies, GLC operates in six countries and continues to expand its reach across the global diaspora.
Our Story
Through programs and heartfelt care, we create safe spaces where seniors thrive. From social activities to support, we build happiness, preserve dignity, and foster meaningful connections for better living.
Across communities and continents, Black girls navigate adultification, silencing, limited access to mentorship, and exclusion from leadership pathways. While many are using technology and peer networks to organize, advocate, and innovate, few have access to structured, healing-centered leadership development designed specifically for their realities. .
Recognizing this gap, GLC’s founding partners came together to create a leadership pipeline that centers identity, wellbeing, and belonging alongside skills and opportunity. Built on decades of experience in women’s and youth leadership development, Girls Lead Change launched as a global initiative rooted in collaboration, community trust, and cultural understanding.
From the beginning, our vision was ambitious: to create a scalable, sustainable ecosystem that connects Black girls to mentors, peers, institutions, and pathways for lifelong impact.
Through strategic partnerships with civil society organizations, schools, and community-based institutions, GLC began operations in six countries, supporting over 150 girls in its early phase.
Today, we are working toward a bold goal, reaching 15,000 girls in 12 to 20 countries by 2030, while staying grounded in our commitment to quality, care, and community.
Our story is still being written, by every girl who finds her voice, every mentor who shows up, and every partner who believes in her future.
Girls Lead Change (GLC) serves Black girls ages 12–18, alumnae (19+), mentors, and community partners who are committed to advancing Black girl leadership.
Through our global network, participants gain access to resources, meaningful relationships, and cross-border collaboration opportunities that support identity formation, healing, skill development, and community action.
Our ecosystem connects girls to mentors, peers, institutions, and pathways — helping them grow into confident leaders equipped to create lasting impact in their communities and beyond.
